Together with dedicated partners, the Kurdish Red Crescent launched an emergency appeal for Rojava (Kurdish-populated northeast Syria) that resulted in raising over 300,000 euros and more than a 100 kg of medical supplies. Still, due to severe weather conditions and embargos, urgent need for aid remains.
Responding promptly to the emergency, the Kurdish Red Crescent initially sent a team to Rojava to determine the immediate needs of people in the area. These needs were reported as primarily being financial, medical and surgical supplies. The emergency appeal is therefore focused on meeting these critical needs.
In order to deliver the aid to the right hands on time, the Kurdish Red Crescent has taken every precaution and measures required.
The emergency appeal for Rojava was is carried out in partnership with the main Kurdish charities and foundations in Europe: Le Croissant Rouge Kurde (France), Koerdische Rode Halve Maan (Netherlands), Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê (Switzerland), Kurdiska Röda Halvmånen (Sweden), Roja Sor a Kurdistanê (Austria), Koerdische Rode Halve Maan (Belgium), Kurdish Red Crescent (UK), and Støtteforeningen Mesopotamiens Sol (Denmark).
Together with these foundations and aid agencies, the Kurdish Red Crescent is coordinating with local partners -Heyva Sor a Kurd and the Humanitarian Aid Council – to distribute aid in Rojava.
The Kurdish Red Crescent calls on everyone to support the emergency appeal and expresses thanks on behalf of collaborating Kurdish aid agencies and foundations in Europe.
